Use and re-use of images on this site

You are welcome to use any of the records on this site for personal, informational and non-commercial purposes, provided that the source of the material is acknowledged. For professional or commercial use, copyrighted images should be used appropriately with the written permission of the Council. The copyright status of an image should be attached to it, however if you are not sure of the copyright or privacy of any record held by the DCC Archive, please contact us at archives@dcc.govt.nz, or click here.

 

All high-quality images on this site are authentic copies that retain the integrity of the original.  We prefer that you do not crop or recolour (or overprint) but if you do, please add ‘[detail]’ or ‘[enhanced]’ to the citation line.  

 

Citation information appears with the records on this site. Please acknowledge Dunedin City Council Archive as the source in all uses of these records.

Dunedin City Council Archive users should be aware that certain words, terms or descriptions contained in our public records or historical references may be culturally sensitive and may be considered inappropriate today. They may have reflected the author or creators attitude or the language used in the period of which they were written.

 

We have endeavoured to make this website accessible to all New Zealanders and consequently this impacts the way images may display when accessibility functions are applied. We acknowledge the cultural sensitivities when photo images are altered that unintentionally crops the heads of people. 

 

Reproduction quality

The quality of a reproduction or copy of an item held by Dunedin City Council Archives depends on the condition of the original. For example, where the original is damaged or faded, we don’t guarantee the legibility of any copy provided. We will make the best copy we are able to.

 

Due to the risk of damage, it may not have been possible to copy some records if:

  • their condition was fragile
  • pages were bound together like a book
  •  they were larger than A3 (297 x 420 mm)
